Social Butterfly
My latest email was from Schemer.com. Someone from my Google+ circles had just joined and I could now check out his schemes. Hmmm, what was Schemer again?
Do you have this problem? I have accounts with close to a zillion social media sites: there's About.me, see.me, yelp, Flickr, 500px, Instagram, 43things, the cool new MySpace, Care2, deviantArt, Behance, Dribbble, Forrst, Foursquare, 14ers.com, Nike+, DailyMile, Goodreads, LibraryThing, Google+, Shelfari, Spotify, GetGlue — are you bored yet? Because this isn't the end of the list. I haven't even named the sites I use most; Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest (ah, my beloved Pinterest), and LinkedIn (you have to be on LinkedIn, don 't you? I think it's required.) But wait! There's more! And I'm sure there is. I just can't remember all of them right now.
What's so ironic about this is, in real life, I lean heavily to the quiet side of the personality spectrum. I enjoy quiet walks in the woods and evenings spent at home. But online, I can't seem to help myself. I'm curious about what people are doing online. I want to see how the communities work and how the sites are designed. More often than not I sign up, check them out, maybe personalize my account a little, and then never go back. Who could possibly keep up with all these sites? It would be a full-time job.
How about you? How social are you?

Not a fan
I am so not a fan of hot weather, and this summer has been crammed full of hot, hot, and more hot. Ugh. Here in Colorado, we don't have air conditioning. Most years, the thermometer only stretches up to 90 for maybe a week in August before it relaxes back down into the warm, dry 80's. This is not one of those years. I'm yearning for fall. Until then, I'm just going to lay here in front of the fan and try not to sweat.
Another thing I'm not a fan of are bicyclists who think they need to ride shoulder-to-shoulder with their buddies. Most of the roads here have bike lanes, which is great. I'm all about sharing the road...until you come across bikers who think they own the road. Let me tell you something, sweetie, that little helmet isn't going to do much to protect you against the two tons of metal you're taking on. You may want to scoot on over into your assigned lane.
Lastly (for today), I am not a fan of venomous reptiles that lounge, all camouflaged, across the trail when my dog is out for his evening run. Do you have any idea how much antivenin costs? It's outrageously, prohibitively expensive. But, as my neighbor, Carol, said, "We do for our pets", and I promised the emergency clinic I'd deliver the total to them in 3 months if they just wouldn't let my Aussie die. Anybody want to buy a first-born?

Almost Amish
I was excited to receive this book for review. It's one I've wanted to read. I've long had an interest in simplifying my life; living more intentionally. Kicking the fast food habit and finally learning to cook. I want to be the girl on the cover with the basket of freshly-baked bread.
I was encouraged to find that the book covers the following topics:
